First, I will say that I have a great deal of contractor experience, and it helps me on every home inspection. When I look at an issue, I don't stand there and wonder what the contractor will say or do. I know what will likely be done, because I have likely done it myself many times. That is a great thing to have in your tool belt, so-to-speak.
Then think about it from your perspective. How confident would you feel if you asked your home inspector how he would fix something and all he said was "well, let's leave that up to the contractor", almost indicting that he really didn't know. As you go through the home inspection, he never gives you any real information. That wouldn't give you much confidence, would it? Having a home inspector that knows how to "swing a hammer" is great, because you can get realistic information from him.
So in short, having a home inspector with contractor experience is a huge advantage in my opinion. So contact me, and see why so many choose me as their home inspector!
